Board Opportunities and Expectations

The Saginaw Community Food Club champions need board members to lend your voice, experience, skills and passion to help impact:

  • Fundraising

  • Budgeting

  • Program partners

  • Strategic planning

For our board, we are actively recruiting qualified members of the food club as well as local corporate representatives within the food system or supply chain. We also need “experts” in facilities, construction, legal and accounting, marketing, fundraising, event planning, retail/grocery, clergy, credit unions, real estate, public health, education, transportation, minority community outreach, and nonprofits with great partnering skills.

Board expectations are fluid:

  • Inclusive of ALICE population

  • No expectations on monetary giving

  • 75% participation in board meetings

  • Committee work

If you would be interested in serving on the Board of Directors, please fill out the form below.

What It Does

Evidence shows stores like the Saginaw Community Food Club support:

  • Healthy eating — Fruits and vegetables make up 50% of the items members select – that's about 3x the proportion of produce distributed through conventional grocery stores.

  • Consistent meals — After six months with the club, 33% of members say they skip meals less frequently, and 32% say they have not needed to use an emergency food resource.

  • Household stability — 23% of members say they are better able to meet basic needs – like housing, healthcare, childcare – since joining a food club.
